1. International CAMLOG Congress

Successful Premiere of the Implant Festival in Montreux

CAMLOG – a growth-oriented company in the implant market – enjoyed a highly successful premiere with its First International CAMLOG Congress, held in Montreux on 11–13 May. 750 participants from more than 20 countries were registered at the Congress Centre of Montreux.

In a conversation with the German-speaking press corps, CAMLOG CEO Jürg Eichenberger had more than a successful Congress to report on. He included an update on the current status of the company, which has turned out to be very positive. In 2005 for example, there was a year-to-year increase in sales of 35 percent. The trend appears to be continuing into the first quarter of 2006 – turnover was 40 percent higher than in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

The CAMLOG System has recently become number 2 on the domestic market. But Germany is just one part of the story. CAMLOG business abroad is rapidly expanding and will be promoted even more intensively. In April the third CAMLOG subsidiary was founded in Switzerland. CAMLOG business activity through distributors in 13 other countries has also been very strong.

Dr. Axel Kirsch, co-developer of the CAMLOG System and a member of the CAMLOG board of directors provided a pre-Congress presentation on the goals and challenges of the Congress itself. The “implant festival“ should aim to become an event for the CAMLOG Family worldwide, the scope of which should go far beyond a mere presentation of dry knowledge or trends in implantology.

Dr. Kirsch: “We would like to bring people together from whatever countries they live in who have decided for good reason to work with the CAMLOG System. The First International CAMLOG Congress started with a goal to launch a festival of science, clinical practice, innovation, and live encounters.“

The newly founded CAMLOG Foundation was also put on show officially for the first time as part of the press conference. Prof. Rolf Ewers, DDS, First President of the Foundation, called it “an investment of a very special kind“. The creation of the Foundation had not only the system user in mind but principally the patient who will be the ultimate beneficiary of the work of the Foundation.

The Foundation will fund gifted young scientists as well as research projects in the basic and applied sciences. In addition, the Foundation will promote further education and training as well as exchanges between universities and industry as part of its mission.
The CAMLOG Academy attached to the Foundation will permit all users to register and become part of the organisation. The Academy is open to professionals in science, dentistry, oral surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, medicine, and dental technology. The Academy should create the basis for an “international network“. One should also expect to find the same team-thinking in the Foundation as in CAMLOG standard activities, reported Prof. Ewers. The Foundation president asserted his confidence in the ability of the CAMLOG Foundation to discover new paths and approaches to enable the widest spread of knowledge that will benefit the patient.
